"ART OF THE GARDEN" GUIDELINES

“ART OF THE GARDEN” ENTRY GUIDELINES
“…let us cultivate our garden.” Voltaire, from Candide
FROM THE FRIENDS OF THE HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP FREE LIBRARY:
                         “Art of the Garden”
                          April 8, 2011 –June 21, 2011
Reception Friday, April 8th, 5:30-8:30 PM
Free and open to the public
                              Deadline: March 10th
                           Artwork Due by April 4th
All artists are invited to apply to a special exhibition, “Art of the Garden,” a group show of 150 artworks on the theme of Gardens, to serve as the second annual event of its kind to be held at the Haverford Township Free Library. “Sowing the Seeds of a New Library” is the cause for which artists are sought who will donate 20% of the purchase price of their artworks, sold during the show, to the library’s upkeep, seriously curtailed in the last two years by a 33% budget cut totaling more than $300,000.00. As Haverford Township’s only library and an essential social hub to an active and cultured population of all age ranges, the HTFL is the perfect gateway to a diverse new audience of collectors and viewers for local, national and international artists.
Artists will also have the special opportunity to avail of the library’s website. Jpegs and bios will be posted on the website for the length of the exhibition, and by special arrangement with the library, artists will be able to negotiate for website display on an annual basis.
A “Master Gardener” series of talks will be held at the library
throughout the exhibition, drawing much interest to the show, and culminating in a “Garden Tour” through local gardens in June.
